Police investigating the case of a man mysteriously shot dead at an eatery in Lagos have held six suspects for questioning.

The Chief Detective learnt that the arrested suspects have questions to answer for the shooting and killing of 35-year-old Kayode Oloruntoba of House Number 3, Werewere Street, Alagbado, Lagos, on September 11 at AVID Sharwama spots, in the Alagbado area.

According to Lagos police spokesman, SP Muyiwa Adejobi, the incident occurred when the victim had an altercation with another customer at the spot, at about 9.30pm.

Adejobi says in a statement on Sunday: “After the shooting, Kayode’s friend and witness, one Okikiola Kazeem, who had earlier called him (Kayode) to join him at the Sharwama spot refused to report the incident to the police, but rather took the deceased to a herbalist in Ogun State where they extracted the pellets. He later took Kayode to his brother’s house at Ipaja Area, Lagos State, where he gave up the ghost.

“As a follow up to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, directed that police detectives be mobilized and hunt for the suspects who were linked to the killing.

“In the course of the investigation, the following were arrested: Chimezie Amaechi, the owner of the Sharwama Spot, Okikiola Kazeem, the deceased’s friend and suspect, Olayinka Oyedokun, the Manager of AVID bar, Femi Victor, Taiwo Morokola, and Omole Wasiu.”

Adejobi added that the suspects had given useful information that could assist the police in their investigation, and the CP had ordered the State Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Panti, Yaba, to take over the case for discreet investigation.
