A man in Yobe State has been held by the police after he allegedly severed his wife’s hand.

According to the police, 22-year-old Ba’ari Bacha cut-off the wife’s hand because she disobeyed him.

The incident happened at Kasaisa community in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Bacha’s wife, Halima Bulama had sought permission to attend a wedding ceremony of a family member.

The husband refused to grant her permission but Halima left for the wedding ceremony.

Bacha on returning home found out that his wife had left for the wedding, without his approval.

He left for Halima’s father’s house to report to her parents but met his wife in the house.

Bacha then angrily brought out a matchet and cut off his wife’s right hand right in the presence of her parents.

The matter was reported to the police and Bacha was arrested.

The police spokesperson in Yobe Yobe State, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim who confirmed the incident to Channels Television vowed that justice will be done.

Bacha, who is a father of three children while explaining the reason for his action said his wife was fond of disobeying him.

He said he regrets his action but insisted that his wife’s disobedience made him commit the crime.

“I committed the crime because of my wife’s disobedience to martial ethics. She has been travelling without my permission. I did this out of anger, I regret my action,” Bacha said.

Halima is currently receiving treatment at Yobe State Teaching Hospital in Damaturu, the state capital.
