The son of a retired Army General and one-time military administrator of Ondo State, Major-General Ekundayo Opaleye, has been killed in Lagos.

Reports say the victim, identified as Muyiwa Babafumilayo Opaleye, was shot to death by a 4-man gang at a hangout on Adekunle Kuye Street, Surulere.

He was 40.

The police later arrived at the scene and arrested a man described as a friend of the murder victim that was making efforts to rush him to the hospital.

The man, simply identified as Kunle, was taken to Soloki Police Station.

“Unfortunately, Kunle who made spirited efforts to save his friend was clamped into detention while the case was transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba for further investigation,” a man who claimed to have witnessed the shooting said.

The late Muyiwa was working with a sporting outfit called City Sports and he lived at Ajose Adeogun Street on Victoria Island.

According to police authorities in Lagos, homicide detectives at the SCIID, Panti, Yaba, have commenced investigations into the assassination.
